More than a year after we started bringing you our daily email digest, today we launch the new Southeast Energy News, featuring original reporting from freelance contributors throughout the region.
This project is a spinoff of Midwest Energy News, which has been publishing since 2010. With help from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, we are working to replicate the successful model of Midwest Energy News in other regions of the country.
Southeast Energy News covers the region’s transition to a clean energy economy. Unlike other news services, we focus on state- and regional-level developments that often get overlooked in the broader national media. We are not out to displace or compete with existing media, but rather to enhance the great work being done by others and seek out stories that might go unreported as legacy news operations continue to scale back.
We are supported almost entirely by foundation grants with additional contributions from individuals. More information on our funders and history can be found here.
I welcome your feedback, story tips and other insights and suggestions. Please feel free to contact me at editor@energy-news.us.
